Chart Industries – New Prague needed a structured approach to problem-solving and leadership development. Before implementing Manufacturers Alliance’s Custom Online Six Sigma Green Belt program, no similar initiative had been done at Chart. The team needed to be able to identify process gaps using data rather than relying on perceived issues.

 

The Solution

Chart-NP partnered with Manufacturers Alliance to customize the Six Sigma Green Belt program to meet their specific needs, particularly focusing on leadership development and problem-solving. The online format allowed internal leaders to act as mentors and coaches, ensuring participants could apply concepts directly to their work.

The Results:

• Weld defect reduction – Eliminated process variance, leading to $177K in savings in 2023 and $450K in cost avoidance in 2024.
• Mass Spec First Pass Yield (FPY) – Increased from 78% in 2023 to 98% in 2024.
• Other key projects included NCR process improvements, Andon system enhancements, MIP 10 failure reductions, and consumables optimization—all delivering measurable impact.

While Chart-NP continues to build its culture of continuous improvement, the Manufacturers Alliance’s Online Six Sigma Green Belt program has been a critical driver of progress and cost savings.
